SF Fashion Week Canceled

After only four years in existence, SF Fashion Week has closed its doors. Now, let's be clear that the woman who ran it has cited "getting married" for her reason to call it quits. My take on that "I've married well and now I don't have to work." Well, I say, congrats sweetheart and too bad for the rest of us.

Well, regardless, this is sad for SF indeed, but are we really surprised? Did we think leading edge fashion could really survive/thrive in the land of fleece and denim? I know Barneys just opened up earlier this year, but let's be honest. With the dollar at its feeble state, it's the tourists that are shopping there not the locals! Don't believe me? Just wait -- I plan on creating a DOs and DON'Ts as part of this blog (with photo proof!) and trust me, there are way more DON'Ts in this city than DOs.
Some examples:
DON'T #1: Fleece to Gary Danko. Yes, I actually saw someone at Gary Danko wearing a fleece jacket. Yikes.
DON'T #2: Juicy Couture jumpsuits - enough said.
DON'T #3: Tory Burch Reva flats. Uh, earth to SF, those are soooo last year. Besides the fact that they are totally uncomfortable, don't stay on your feet, and look ridiculous.

Anyway, my point is that SF probably isn't ready for a fashion week or maybe we are but the city needs someone with better connections and a little more gumption to get it and keep it going. Any volunteers?
